The Grand Master and all those who attended the re-scheduled AGM and Investiture on 8th May, were delighted to receive our honoured guest, Ashley Westpfel, Regional Fundraising Manager for Whizz-Kidz. As you will recall, Whizz-Kidz was chosen by our Grand Master as the charitable focus for the Order.
Addressing the assembly, Ashley described how the recession had put great financial pressure on most charitable organisations, materially affecting their ability to deliver the much needed help and care they exist to provide. Whizz-Kidz, the provider of mobility equipment and training for children with restricted mobility – services not provided by the NHS - had seen a decline in financial contributions as a result, although recent figures in 2010 were more encouraging. It was also clear that public expenditure constraints were likely to add to the problems of many of the families concerned.
Funds raised and contributions made at the AGM amounted to £ 452, which the Grand Master was delighted to present. You can read the subsequent letter of thanks by clicking here.
